Chatham University Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes

In the absence of original order for most of the collection, this collection was divided in to five series and arranged in boxes. Where possible, folders were left alone - this is the case particularly for the 1990s. Series 1, Meeting Minutes, 1869 - 2015, bulk 1869 - 1962, 1970 - 1992, 1997 - 1999, 2001 - 2005, 2011 - 2015 This series is composed of meeting agendas, minutes, and related documents from whole meetings of the Board of Trustees, which regularly occurred in February, June, and October of each year. There are some instances of special meetings and some meetings where, if there was a meeting, there's no record of the meeting in this collection. Series 2, Committee Meetings & Minutes, 1953 - 2005, bulk 1961 - 1998, 2000 - 2009, 2004 - 2005 This series is composed of meeting agendas, minutes, and related documents from various Board of Trustees committees. The committee best represented in this series is the Executive Committee, with other committees (Audit Committee, Student Affairs Committee, etc.) better represented in later years. If there is record of a staff retreat, it will be in this series as well. Series 3, Correspondence, 1904 - 2005, bulk 1904 - 1905, 1930 - 1935, 1944 - 1976, 1981 - 1983, 1990 - 1991, 1994 - 1998, 2005 This series is composed of correspondence that wasn't interspersed in the previous two series. These are generally arranged in chronological order in folders broken down by year. Series 4, Miscellaneous, c. 1800s - undated, bulk 1921 - 1923, 1948 - 1950, 1960 - 1983, 1987, 1991 - 1993, 1995 - 1997, 2000 - 2003, 2004 - 2006, 2009 This series is composed of materials found in the collection that didn't fit clearly in one of the other series', or were impossible to determine which meeting they might be associated with. This is the series where photographs and information about historic families and persons can be found. Series 5, Presidential Search, 1960 - 1991, bulk 1960, 1977, 1982, 1990 - 1991 This series is composed of materials, including correspondence, resumes, and meeting notes pertaining to several presidential search committees from the mid to late 1900s. The bulk of this collection is individual files pertaining to applicants and nominees for the position.
