Scope and Contents
The Catherine R. Miller Collection contains 68 engravings, lithographs, and watercolors of 18th and 19th century Pittsburgh. The collection includes rare views of the city, maps, and numerous architectural drawings. Of particular note are works by Russel Smith, Tardieu, Currier, and Gillespie.

Biographical or Historical Information
Catherine R. Miller was born in 1884 to Mary Bell Robbins Miller, member of the Pennsylvania Female College class of 1877, the first female Trustee of the college (now Chatham University), president of the Alumnae Association, namesake for the Mary Robbins Miller scholarship and wife of William S. Miller. Catherine R. Miller attended Dilworth Hall, the preparatory school connected with the college, during the 1900-1901 school year as a third level student.
A resident of Sewickley, PA, Catherine Miller was active in a variety of local garden clubs, often serving on the leadership committees. Catherine R. Miller died in July of 1965.

Bequest by Catherine R. Miller espressed in her will as: "I bequeath my collection of pictures and maps of and books on the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Chatham College, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in loving memory of my mother, Mary Bell Robbins Miller, who was graduated with the Class of 1877 and was the first woman trustee of the College (then Pennsylvania College for Women), serving for twenty-five years until her death."
